The Longmorn Distillery  was e stablished in 1893 by John Duff, Charles Shirres and George Thomson. Duff was a former manager of the Glendronach Distillery and the Bon Accord Distillery in Aberdeen, and was the founder of the Glenlossie Distillery. This distillery has graced the Speyside region for many years producing bold delicious flavours in its whisky. The distillery went through some expansion in 1972 and the now owners Pernod Ricard acquired the distillery in 2001 after purchasing Chivas Brothers.

This distillery still remains unknown to most and there is no reason why as the whisky it produces is amongst the highest quality in the world and delights the palate. The distillery produces 3,500,000 litres of whisky per annum and you should expect this whisky to give you sweetness, spices and wonderful a mouth feel with honey, apples and toffee.

North Star Spirits is an independent bottler based in Glasgow, Scotland. They pride themselves on bottling the finest single malt Scotch whisky, blended whisky and blended malt Scotch whisky. Producing artisan single cask whisky from various regions of Scotland as well as bottling rums, gins and Bourbon whiskey. All products are small batch, bottled at cask strength.

This Longmorn was distilled in 2005 and then rested for 15 years in an ex Oloroso Sherry Butt for 15 years. Bottled in 2020 and we applaud them, a cracker of a bottling. Limited to 596 bottled worldwide and Australia’s allocation was even smaller. Bottled at 63.1% abv.

Tasting Notes

Nose:  Polished oak, dark chocolate, espresso, dried dark fruits, dark toffee and spiced oak.

Palate:  Vanilla fudge, chocolate, mocha, raisins, sultanas, plums and new leather.

Finish:  Bitter chocolate, dark toffee and chocolate.
